B Lymphoblastoid Cell lines are derived by infection of PBMC with Epstein-Barr virus. The virus immortalizes B lymphocytes. It typically is not shed from cells but cultures should still be handled under Biosafety level 2 conditions.
Donor had thyroid cancer which was cured by thyroidectomy. She takes levothyroxin, hydrochlorothiazide for hypertension, amytriptyline and a statin.

This donor was age 71 when she enrolled in the study. She reports having Sjogren’s since 1987 and mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) since 2005. No autoantibodies were detected in a screen for 11 autoantibodies in November 2012. She is taking a number of medications including Rituxan and prednisone.
